Meet the Elders
Our four elders oversee all that happens in Hope Church. They do most of the teaching on Sundays and share the pastoral and administrative elements of caring for the church.
“I am married to Tracey and we have four children. We moved from Brighton to Shrewsbury in 2007 to help establish our church. My working background is international and community development and I have had the privilege of visiting and working in many developing world countries. I became the Team Leader of Hope Church in the summer of 2011 when Phil Whittall moved to Sweden to plant a new church in Stockholm. My responsibilities are leading the team, preaching and teaching, evangelism and Alpha, and supporting our children’s work leaders. I love my wife’s cooking, running, gardening, watching football and reading!”
Andy is married to Lis and they have two wonderful girls. Andy grew up in Shrewsbury and is passionate about all things local, particularly the music scene. He loves to play, compose and record all sorts of music, and oversees the worship team at Hope Church.
“I am married to Linda and, after a long Army career, we retired from paid work, settled in Shrewsbury and joined Hope Church. Our daughter and her husband and two grandchildren live in Sleaford, Lincolnshire. We enjoy several hobbies, including playing and singing in a ukulele band.“
“I am married to Julie, we have three children. We moved to Shrewsbury to join Hope Church in 2016 having lived in six houses over 11 years due to my previous job. For work I fly one of the Wales Air Ambulance helicopters operating out of their Welshpool base.”
